Our client, an international food services company with locations across the United States and Canada, have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant HR/Safety Manager in their new facility in Fullerton, CA.
We are searching for an experienced Human Resources professional with a knowledge of payroll and safety processes to join our clients Commissary team in Fullerton, CA. You will work as a link between management and employees, by promoting and executing our people initiatives, ensuring compliance to legislation and company policies, and driving HR functional excellence to result in operational success and a positive impact to employees.

Responsibilities & Duties:
Human Resources:
- Serve as a link between management and employees by fielding questions, interpreting and helping to resolve work-related issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policy, fair employment practices and government regulations.
- Manage employee documentation and adhere to Corporate HR Policies.
- Advise and train Management on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity, Sexual Harassment, and other related corporate and legislative policies.
- Administer New Hire Orientations, Disciplinary/Counseling Actions, and Terminations.
- Respond quickly and urgently to staff vacancies and recruit, interview and select appropriate applicants.
- Provide information and training to employees about company policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities, and employee benefits.
- Conduct investigations on employee relations issues: Sexual Harassment, Grievances, Safety, Etc.
- Maintain documentation organization for: New Hires, Transfers, Promotions, Performance, and Time and Attendance. Ensure documentation reaches corporate personnel files.
- Create, improve, and monitor new hire packets to ensure legislative compliance.
- Ensure all legal postings are accessible and posted according to legislative compliance.
- Responsible for conducting new hire training.
- Responsible for ensuring training schedule is adhered and auditing training compliance on a frequent basis.
Payroll:
- Responsible for entering new hire information into ADP Payroll Systems.
- Responsible for reviewing all payroll entries prior to payroll processing.
- Work closely with Payroll Manager to ensure accurate and timely payroll processes.
Safety:
- Provide general guidance, direction, advice, and regulatory requirements in all areas of occupational safety and health.
- Provide leadership and direction to operating managers regarding effective accident investigation and management and return to work programs.
- Maintain OSHA documentation, MSDS Binders, and Chemical Lists.
- Ensure safety meetings are conducted with documentation and organization.
- Coach and educate all levels of management and employees on environmental safety and health regulations.
- Identify, report, and provide solutions for employee safety programs, regulatory compliance, and employee health issues.
- Key contact for Safety and Labor Inspections.
- Review all post-accident investigations and near misses for process and procedural improvements and follow-up with management.
- Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of Worker’s Compensation Claims and Reports with proper processing protocols.
- Ensure all legal postings are accessible and posted according to legislative compliance (Liability Policies, OSHA 300 Log, Etc.).
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of HR Generalist work experience, preferably in a food manufacturing industry.
- A minimum of 1 year of Safety work experience.
- Bilingualism in Spanish is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of employment legislation, employee relations practices and HR disciplines to provide professional guidance and direction. Knowledge of other state legislations an asset.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office applications and HRIS, ATS, and LMS systems. Experience with Microsoft D360 an asset.
- Exceptional organizational skills with ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the company including Executives, Management, and front-line workers.
- Must demonstrate good judgment, strict confidentiality, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Customer service oriented with the ability to work as part of a team; possesses a solution-oriented and positive attitude.
