This company specializes in projects in electrical utility distribution and Infrastructure, telephone/CATV/fibre optic communication networks and natural gas infrastructure.
The role: –
You could be working out of the Kelowna office where you are performing and leading the team in designing electrical utility, substations and infrastructure (medium and high voltage), coordinating with customers, municipal authorities and stakeholders.
Designing models and drafting will of course be aspects of your position using AutoCAD and PLS-CADD but other duties will also include Writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling.
As the Senior Engineer you would be providing technical leadership to less experienced staff, Perform QA/QC for deliverables to ensure high quality work is produced and OQM practices are followed.
You could be responsible for the scheduling management and tracking of projects as well as meeting customers and performing site inspections.
Skills & Experience: –
It goes without saying that you have been in an intermediate or Senior position previously. This role will see you using your experience and knowledge of overhead and underground electrical distribution infrastructure (4kV – 25kV systems) as well as your ability to perform Pull and Voltage drop calculations.
As an experienced Electrical Engineer, you not only have a degree under your belt but ideally have a registered professional designation (EGBC or equivalent). Your strong experience with substation design is crucial and Experience in transmission line design and/or protection would be an asset.
Knowledge of Fortis BC and BC Hydro designs or construction standards would be highly desirable, but not essential.
