We have the privilege of assisting one of the Okanagan’s leading law firms. They currently have an opening for an IT Specialist to join their dynamic team!

Responsible for the supervision, implementation, and maintenance of a law firm’s computing needs. You will ensure the secure and effective operation of all computer systems, related applications, hardware, and software used within the law firm.

  • Overseeing the annual IT budget and ensuring cost effectiveness.
  • Selecting and purchasing new and replacement hardware and software, when necessary.
  • Coordinating & implementing technology installations, upgrades, updates, repair, and maintenance (firewall, switches, servers, workstations, printers).
  • Manage daily IT operations
    • Provide internal “IT help desk” function and daily technical support to team members troubleshooting software and hardware problems.
    • Troubleshoot network and system failures and provide solutions to restore functionality
    • Instruct and train users on correct use of computers and software
    • Create domain accounts for users and computers using Windows Server 2016, Microsoft Exchange on-line
    • Monitor servers and workstations, software, and operating systems.
    • Test, Troubleshoot & modify hardware and software so they operate effectively
    • Conducting daily backup operations
  • Assuring all IT activities are performed within the parameters of applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Evaluating technology risks in order to develop a network disaster recovery plan and backup procedures.
  • Ensure security of firm’s network and data including:
    • Installing, administering, and troubleshooting network security solutions including, a needed, firewalls, anti-virus systems, and VPNs.
    • Updating software with the latest security patches and ensuring the proper defenses are present for each network resource.
    • Performing vulnerability and penetration tests, identifying, and defending against threats, and developing disaster recovery plans.
    • Configuring security systems, analyzing security requirements, and recommending improvements.
    • Monitoring network traffic for suspicious behavior.
    • Creating network policies and authorization roles and defending against unauthorized access, modifications, and destruction.
    • Developing IT security policies and protocols and training team members on them.
  • Developing & managing policies, procedures, safety protocols and technical documents
  • Keeping up to date with advances in technology and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. Comp TIA A+) will be an advantage
  • Proven experience managing IT infrastructure and services.
  • Experience with computer networks, network administration, and network installation.
  • Proficient in computer hardware, wireless technology applications and interface, and IT security.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows software, including Server, Office, and Exchange On-line.
  • Management and leadership skills.
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
